At Training Qualifications UK, we’re always working hard to develop qualifications that can help change people’s lives and move them forward into their chosen careers.

That’s why December’s Qualification of the Month is our brand new TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Fashion Design (RQF), which was closely developed in association with Learndirect.

For those dreaming of being the next Coco Chanel or Marc Jacobs, this qualification helps develop learners’ knowledge and creative skills required for fashion design. Specifically, the qualification develops learners’ fashion design ideas, and drawing techniques, as well as design and communication techniques, fabric experimentation, and accessory design.

It doesn’t stop there… did you know that research shows it takes 2,700 litres of water to make one t-shirt? The fashion design qualification gives learners the opportunity to improve their sustainable practices to create forward-thinking fashion.

During Covid-19, many people took the opportunity to kickstart their dreams. They did this by creating social media accounts to showcase their fashion design ideas, from handmade bags and jewellery to even creating their own fashion lines.

What were once just ideas in a notebook can be turned into a profitable career within an industry that is set to reach an estimated £60.1 billion this year.

Ciarda Barrett, Faculty Director of Creative Arts at Learndirect said: “Many of us have been re-evaluating our lives and career choices since the pandemic. Having an outlet for creative expression is essential for many people. At Learndirect, we can provide a platform for interior design enthusiasts and fashion lovers who want to gain a sense of purpose and turn their passion into a second job or a successful career. When you master what you love, the opportunities are endless!”

Total Qualification Time

Total Qualification Time (TQT) is comprised of Guided Learning Hours (GLH), an estimate of the number of hours a learner is likely to spend in preparation, and study assessment which takes place as directed by, but not under the supervision of, a lecturer, supervisor, or tutor.

Paul Burkin, Qualifications Manager at Training Qualifications UK said: “With the new qualifications, learners have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in these areas and support progression to roles in associated industries. In their continued collaborative approach, TQUK and Learndirect are committed to delivering opportunities to support learner advancement and increase career prospects.”

How to start delivering this qualification as a Centre:

To be able to offer any TQUK qualification, each Centre must be recognised by TQUK, and meet qualification approval criteria.
