Here at Training Qualifications UK, we aim to keep you up to date with the latest news relating to our qualifications. This post will take you through all the latest qualification news to ensure that you are kept updated and in the know with our Health and Social Care Qualifications.
In line with subject expert feedback following our most recent annual review period, we have decided to update and clarify several qualifications in this suite. The changes can be found below and the draft copies of the updated qualifications can be found here.
Mental Health
TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health (RQF)
T/617/3706: During the annual review, it was revealed that AC1.1 was incomplete and required editing to fall in line with current standards. As such AC1.1 has been updated, adding “Safe voicing of children’s wishes” to the current criteria. This change will help to keep us up to date with current practice and ensure that the qualification is the best it can be.
TQUK Level 3 Award in Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (RQF)
L/504/8409: The annual review has revealed that the act was updated in 2019, as such ‘Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards’ or ‘DOLS’ as referred to in the original Act is no longer accurate. In order to fall in line with this newer version, we updated the assessment guidance, shifting instead to ’Liberty Protection Safeguards.’
Medical Conditions & Medicine Management
TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Common Health Conditions (RQF)
L/617/3789: During the annual review it was revealed that this unit was over assessing our learners. As such we have removed AC1.5 from the specification, removing the request for statistics regarding heart disease. This will reduce the amount of unnecessary content in the unit, creating a more streamlined and therefore useful overall qualification.
Health and Social Care for Children
TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Introducing Caring for Children and Young People (RQF)
M/616/9086: The annual review revealed that the current age groupings listed in this unit were outdated. As such we have updated these groupings to fall more in line with the standard. The new age groupings are as follows:
0-3 years, 3-4 years, and Reception
This change will ensure that the qualification remains up to date with current standards.
T/617/3849: As with the other unit in this qualification, the annual review revealed issues with the current unit specification when compared to the standard. It was revealed that the areas for development listed in this specification no longer matched the requirement. Therefore AC1.1 needed to change. The new areas of development are listed as follows:
Personal Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
This change ensures that the qualification falls in line with current standards of practice in this area.
TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Behaviour that Challenges in Children (RQF)
R/617/4930: During the annual review it was revealed that our current additional guidance for this unit fails to mention alternative reflective models to SMART. As such, to allow for a wider range of teaching we have changed the guidance to allow other similar models, ensuring that all teaching styles are reflected.
Health and Social Care for Adults
TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Oral Care for Health and Social Care (RQF)
M/618/3280: In the process of the annual review, it was revealed that the current unit specification does not properly reflect the required content. As such we have added additional guidance to the unit, ensuring that when answering the criteria in Learning Outcome 4, the learner refers to care and support when discussing care plans.
TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Self-harm and Suicide Awareness and Prevention (RQF)
H/618/1350: During the annual review it was revealed that Sexual Orientation was not listed as a part of the protected characteristics. This has now been added to reflect the official list, ensuring the qualification matches external standards.
